BUKIDNON - The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has cleared one lane of the Rawari section of the Quezon-Kitaotao boundary after a landslide early Tuesday morning prevented motorists from passing through a portion of the highway that connects Bukidnon to Davao City.

Though no damage to life and property has been reported, the pile of soil that measured 5-meters high continues to obstruct the road, DPWH Region 10 spokesperson Vinah Maghinay said.

The DPWH has tapped the Army's 8th Infantry Battalion to help with the clearing operations.

Roads are expected to be cleared by late Tuesday afternoon.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) vessel, BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301), asserted its stance Saturday against China's so-called "monster ship" loitering within the Philippines' Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) at a distance of 60-70 nautical miles from the Zambales coastline.

The PCG said the 83-meter French-built Philippine vessel confronted Chinese Coast Guard Vessel 5901 for its illegal activities in the West Philippine Sea.

During the entire maritime patrol on Saturday, the PCG crew conducted a radio challenge to firmly remind the Chinese Coast Guard vessels of their "claims of conducting maritime patrols."

"It is important to note that the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) clarifies that the freedom of navigation for foreign-flagged vessels does not extend to conducting patrols within the EEZ of other states," said the Philippine Coast Guard.
