Magnitude 4.0 quake strikes off Surigao del Sur

MANILA- A magnitude 4.0 earthquake rattled Surigao del Sur province on Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The tremor struck around 3:09 p.m., with its epicenter located 57 kilometers northeast of Bislig City.

With a 16-km depth of focus, the quake was felt at intensity III in Bislig City.

Instrumental intensity I was also recorded in the same city.

Phivolcs said no aftershocks and damages were expected.
