MANILA - The De La Salle University (DLSU) joined the University of the Philippines (UP) as the only Philippine universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2019.

The University of Oxford remained the number one university for the third year in a row, while the University of Cambridge again placed second.

Stanford University ranked third, while the Massachusetts Institute of Technology moved up to the fourth spot.

California Institute of Technology, which was tied with Stanford University last year at the third spot, is now ranked fifth.

Tsinghua University has dethroned the National University of Singapore (NUS) as the best university in Asia. It rose 8 places to rank 22, forcing NUS to move down to the 23rd spot.
