ILOCOS NORTE -- The Philippine Coast Guard together with local scuba divers conducted an underwater clean-up activity in line with the celebration of the 40th annual International Coastal Clean-up Day.

Tagged "scubasurerors," the scuba divers of Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) and the Coast Guard were able to collect garbage underneath the sea within the vicinity of Currimao.

Aside from the scubasureros, almost 100 MMSU students also took part in the activity by collecting sacks of garbage along the shore.

Currimao's waters are considered to be one of Ilocos Norte's richest in marine biodiversity and a good breeding ground for corals.
