Jordan, PH sign deals on trade, defense

MANILA - The Philippines and Jordan on Thursday signed deals on labor, foreign affairs, and trade, as President Rodrigo Duterte visits the Arab state.

The following deals were signed during Duterte’s meeting with Jordanian officials, led by King Abdullah II:

- Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations, between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan, and the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines

- MoU on Defense Cooperation between the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army and the Department of National Defense of the Philippines

- Agreement between the Jordan Maritime Commission and the Maritime Industry Authority of the Philippines concerning the Recognition of Certificates under the Terms of the 1978 STCW (Standards of Training Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers) Convention

- Cooperation Framework for Employment of Domestic Workers, and MoU on Labor Cooperation between Jordan and the Philippines

- MoU between the Jordan Investment Commission and the Board of Investments of the Philippines

After his meeting with the Jordanian king, the President will also be attending a forum with Jordanian and Philippine businessmen on Thursday afternoon (Jordan time).

On Friday, the President will meet with the members of the Filipino community at the Royal Cultural Palace. Jordan hosts some 40,000 Filipino workers.
