MANILA—President Rodrigo Duterte invalidated the amnesty granted to Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV for failure to comply with its minimum requirements, Malacañang said Tuesday.
Duterte’s Presidential Proclamation No. 572 released Tuesday voided the amnesty granted to Trillanes, rendering it null upon issuance, for the senator’s supposed failure to comply with requirements including his admission of guilt.
Former President Benigno Aquino, through Proclamation 75 Series of 2010, granted amnesty to Trillanes and several other military rebels in 2011, leading to their release from detention.
