BANGKOK - National Youth Commission chairperson Aiza Seguerra will be joining other youth representatives from Southeast Asia in an interaction with Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) leaders, including Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.

The ASEAN Leaders' Interface with Representatives of ASEAN Youth will be held on Tuesday afternoon at the Laos' National Convention Center. The meeting is a usual feature during the ASEAN Summits and Related Summits.

Speaking to reporters in Bangkok while waiting for his flight to Laos, Seguerra said the Philippines is pushing for a youth development plan that will focus on education, health, and combating HIV, among others.

This is Seguerra's first participation in an international conference and describes it as surreal.

"I was packing my stuff yesterday, kakaiba to puro barong yung iniimpake ko… First time kong bumiyahe na walang gitara although nakakatuwa hindi ganun kabigat ang luggage ko, pero puro barong lang,'' said Seguerra, a singer.

(I was packing my stuff yesterday, this is different as I was packing barongs. This is my first time to travel without a guitar in my luggage.)

Seguerra has been an ardent supporter of Duterte even during the campaign period. As NYC chair, he has also vowed to aid the president in his primary crusade of ending the illegal drug trade in the country.
