BAGUIO CITY – Police seized more than half a million pesos worth of marijuana (cannabis) and methamphetamine (shabu) from two suspected pushers here on Thursday.
About 2.55 kilograms of marijuana estimated to be worth P500,000, 1 gram of shabu worth P4,015, and drug paraphernalia were confiscated from suspects Ronald Jake Dimaguiba and Jessica Macayan during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Dominican Hill.
Dimaguiba works as a delivery boy while Macayan is an online tutor. Both are on authorities' drug watchlist, said Senior Superintendent George Daskeo, the city police chief.
Northern Luzon police have stepped up their drive against marijuana plantations in the region. The Cordillera Administrative Region, Daskeo said, is one of the main sources of the cannabis plant, which is used to make marijuana.
On Friday, police burned an estimated P2.7-billion worth of fully-grown marijuana plants that were seized from a plantation in Tingalayan, Kalinga.
