Jenny exits land, churns toward Lingayen Gulf

MANILA—Tropical depression Jenny has left Philippine landmass and is headed towards Lingayen Gulf, state weather bureau PAGASA said early Wednesday.

The weather disturbance may intensify again into tropical storm, the agency added.

As of 4 a.m. Wednesday, the tropical depression was located 125 kilometers northwest of Dagupan City, Pangasinan. It made landfall over Casiguran, Aurora at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Jenny is currently packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph), with gusts of up to 85 kph and moving west-northwest at a speed of 35 kph.

Tropical cyclone wind signal number 1 remains hoisted over the following areas:

• Abra
• Apayao
• Aurora
• Benguet
• Bulacan
• Cagayan
• Ifugao
• Ilocos Norte
• Ilocos Sur
• Isabela
• Kalinga
• La Union
• Mountain Province
• Nueva Ecija
• Nueva Vizcaya
• Northern portion of Quezon, including Polillo Islands
• Pampanga
• Pangasinan
• Quirino
• Tarlac
• Zambales

PAGASA said Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya will experience light to moderate with frequent heavy rains on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Central Luzon, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Mindoro Provinces and Palawan will have light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains.

The bad weather has also forced the cancellation of classes in several provinces.

Jenny is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) Wednesday afternoon or night, PAGASA said.
