MANILA- President Rodrigo Duterte’s much-awaited return to China will be his longest trip to the country since assuming the presidency in 2016.

Duterte will visit the Asian economic giant for 6 days from Aug. 28 to Sept. 2, his spokesman Salvador Panelo announced Tuesday.

The Philippine leader earlier said he would raise 2016 Manila’s arbitral victory, which upheld the country’s sovereign rights over the West Philippine Sea when he meets with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping during the visit.

"I'm going to China to talk. Did I not tell you before, that before my term ends, I will be talking about the [South] China Sea?” Duterte said earlier this month.

Aside from the arbitral ruling, President Duterte will also raise the code of conduct on the South China Sea, a possible joint exploration for oil and gas, and the increasing presence of Chinese ships in Philippine waters.

Duterte's working visit to China this month is his second trip to the Asian economic giant this year. He went to China last April.
