MANILA - The Nayong Pilipino Foundation has been "mismanaged" over the years as the firm does not employ an accountant and other regular employees, a former board member said Friday.

Some officials brought in their own people and charged "extravagant" expenses to the agency, ex-Nayong Pilipino Foundation board member Marie Fema Duterte told ANC's Headstart.

"Ginagamit pera sa Nayong Pilipino in a wrong way: walang plantilla position, walang accountant," said Mrs Duterte, whose husband is a distant relative of the President.

ABS-CBN News tried to get in touch with Nayong Pilipino Foundation officials, but has yet to receive a response.

Duterte has been at odds with the foundation's other board members after other officials allegedly refused to implement her appointment as executive director.

"Hindi nila nirespeto ang gusto ng Presidente na ako magiging executive director pero okay lang kasi part ako ng board of trustees," she said.

(They did not respect the President's wish that I serve as executive director. But that's okay, since I'm part of the board of trustees.)

Duterte filed 3 complaints, including malversation, against the foundation's officials before the Ombudsman.

Nayong Pilipino's entire board, including Mrs Duterte, was fired by the President on Tuesday over a $1.5 billion casino-theme park project with Hong Kong's Landing International.
