A former mayor of Lezo town in Aklan was convicted for the killing of a radio broadcaster in 2004.
Judge Sylva Paderanga of the Regional Trial Court of Cebu City Branch 16 found Alfredo Arcenio guilty of homicide for the killing of Bombo Radyo broadcaster Herson "Boy" Hinolan in 2004.
Arcenio received a jail term of eight to 14 years. He was also ordered to compensate the victim's family P187,761.
Arcenio, who declined to be interviewed, was escorted by jail guards back to his detention cell.
The Supreme Court ordered the transfer of the venue of the trial from Aklan to Cebu in 2008.
