MANILA—The death toll from the capsize of 3 motorbancas in the waters between Iloilo and Guimaras is 31, the Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) said Tuesday night.
Two more bodies were recovered in the waters off Dumangas, Iloilo Tuesday.
The CDRRMC said 65 survived from the mishap—52 passengers and 13 crew members.
Some 73 passengers were included in the manifesto while 10 others were not.
The motorboats Chi-Chi and Keziah 2 capsized Saturday afternoon reportedly due to squall or sudden violent winds.
Another motorboat, Jenny Vince, capsized few hours later.
The Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) has started its investigation on the incident and has also temporarily suspended the operations of all passenger motorbancas operating the Iloilo-Guimaras route.
