(5th UPDATE) A Pasay City councilor is dead following an apparent targeted shooting at a mall in Las Piñas Saturday night.

Chief Senior Superintendent Marion Balonglong, of the Las Piñas City Police, identified the victim as Borbie Rivera, who was pronounced dead on arrival at Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Muntinlupa City.

Rivera sustained gunshot wounds to his head and body.

Balonglong said that, at 8:30 p.m., a man approached Rivera while he was waiting in his wheelchair outside Door 4 of SM Southmall near the parking lot, where he was shot several times.

On June 23, Rivera sustained multiple gunshot wounds after he was ambushed in Pasay City.

Rivera was arrested in April 2015 on charges of murder. He was released in April 2016 after the court junked the case.

In a statement, SM Supermalls said SM Southmall has resumed normal operations.

The area where the shooting happened has been temporarily closed, the statement added.
