MANILA - Bishop Emeritus Deogracias Iñiguez, who used to be the bishop of the Diocese of Kalookan, has tested positive for COVID-19.

Iñiguez is receiving treatment at the hospital, his successor, Bishop Pablo Virgilio David, said during his Mass at the San Roque Cathedral Sunday, according to a report from the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines.

David also said Iñiguez is "in the hospital under isolation."

“May the Lord grant his healing grace to our beloved bishop and all the people affected by the disease,” David said.

The 79-year-old retired bishop is the second prelate to test positive of the disease, after Bishop Broderick Pabillo, apostolic administrator and auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Manila.
