ILOCOS NORTE- Tropical storm "Carina" has damaged over P19-million worth of crops and properties in Ilocos Norte, authorities said.

"Partial pa lang ito dahil on going pa rin ang pagvavalidate natin sa mga reported na nasira ng bagyo," said Lilian Rin, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Officer-Ilocos Norte.

As of Tuesday morning, the partial worth of damages of severe tropical storm "Carina" has reached P 19,380,369.40.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management and Resiliency Council (PDRRMRC) has already deployed its personnel for field validation of damages brought by the storm.

In the agriculture sector, P5,590,369.40 worth of crops like palay, corn, and bananas were damaged, while the damage in infrastructure amounted to P13,790,000.00.

Among those damaged were provincial roads and bridges and irrigation facilities and the University Library and Admin Building of Mariano Marcos State University and three houses in Batac City after being hit by a tornado.

The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte already distributed more than 900 packs of relief goods to those affected by the storm.

"Nakapagbigay natayo ng 900 plus of relief at ngayong aaw magbibigay pa tayo sa iba pang victims ng 700 packs pa." Rin said.

Meanwhile, at least 54 families who were forced to evacuate have since returned to their homes.
