Police went to the house of Jonathan Leano, Tanto's brother-in-law, in Barangay Kirang, Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya at 4 p.m. Friday after Tanto revealed that he left his firearm with Leano.

Tanto, a former Army reservist, was the subject of a manhunt by police after he was tagged as the shooter in the killing of cyclist Mark Vincent Geralde last Monday.

A viral video of the incident showed a lone shooter firing his gun at Geralde several times after a traffic altercation and fistfight. Authorities later identified Tanto as the suspect after social media sites identified the wrong person as the alleged shooter.

Leano earlier told authorities Tanto left his car, a red Hyundai Eon, before allegedly boarding a Florida bus bound for Metro Manila Thursday morning.

On Friday, elements of the Philippine Army intelligence unit, 9th Infantry Division and Masbate police arrested Tanto in Barangay Poblacion, Milagros, Masbate.
