Philippine Air Force chopper crashes in Isabela

CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela (UPDATE)- A helicopter of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) crashed shortly after takeoff in Cauayan City, Isabela Thursday night, police said.

The helicopter, which belonged to PAF's Tactical Operations Group 2, was carrying 5 people when the incident happened past 7 p.m, the Cauayan City police said.

It was not immediately clear why the aircraft went down.

"As of this time, recovery of the aircraft is being executed to determine the number of casualties. The PAF will conduct an investigation to determent the cause of the incident," the PAF said in a statement.

One crew member was rushed to a nearby hospital while authorities are checking the condition of other passengers. - Report from Harris Julio, ABS-CBN News
