MANILA - Tropical depression "Falcon" may intensify into a tropical storm before making landfall over extreme northern Luzon on Wednesday, the state weather bureau said Monday.

The weather system was spotted 855 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and 65 kph gusts, PAGASA said.

On Tuesday, light to moderate with occasional heavy monsoon rains will prevail over MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Bangsamoro.

Falcon will bring moderate to heavy rains to Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Zambales, Bataan, and Mindoro Provinces when it nears the extreme northern Luzon area on Wednesday.

Light to moderate with occasional heavy monsoon rains will also be experienced in Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Western Visayas, and the rest of Central Luzon and MIMAROPA.

On Thursday, moderate to heavy rains will be experienced over Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan and Mindoro Provinces due to enhanced Southwest Monsoon.

Light to moderate with occasional heavy monsoon rains will still be experienced in Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Western Visayas, and the rest of Central Luzon and MIMAROPA.

Winds of 30-60 kph may be expected in at least 36 hours, or intermittent rains may be expected within 36 hours in Northern Isabela, Cagayan, and Batanes.

Residents in affected areas, especially those living in areas identified to be at risk of flooding and landslides, are advised to take precautionary measures.

Fisherfolk and those with small seacraft are advised not to venture out over the seaboards of Northern Isabela, Cagayan, Batanes, and the eastern seaboards of Visayas and Mindanao.
