MANILA (UPDATE)—A magnitude 5.6 earthquake jolted North Cotabato on Tuesday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The agency initially declared the quake as magnitude 5.3.

The tremor occurred at 8:37 p.m. at a depth of 14 kilometers southwest of Makilala town.

Intensity 5 was recorded in Makilala, North Cotabato; Kidapawan City; Koronadal City and Santa Cruz, Davao Del Sur, while Intensity 4 was recorded in Davao City, in the towns of Polomolok, Tupi, Tampakan, Santo Nino, Tacurong City and Quirino in Sultan Kudarat, and in Glan and Malungon in Sarangani.
