ISABELA CITY, Basilan - Isabela City in Basilan province recorded its first coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) case on Monday.

Isabela Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman identified the patient as a 25-year-old woman who arrived in Isabela from Manila on June 18.

She was not able to go home and mingle with her family as the local government of Isabela requires all returning locally stranded individuals to undergo mandatory quarantine.

Isolation facilities were prepared for the returning Isabelenos.

"Eto ho 'yung maganda dahil nasa facility siya mula nang dumating siya so ang i-contact tracing lang natin 'yung mga kasama niya sa Begang facility" the Mayor said.

Hataman appealed to her constituents to stay calm and cooperate with local authorities to stop the spread of the illness.
