Initial investigation showed the vessel was loading cement bags when it was struck by heavy swell. The vessel tilted on its side before it keeled over.

Containment booms were placed in the area to prevent spillage of some 12,000 diesel oil from the ship.

Maritime authorities will conduct an investigation to establish the cause of the incident.—Report from Aiza Layague, ABS-CBN News
