MANILA — The Department of Health recorded 630 additional COVID-19 cases in the Philippines on Monday, bringing the country's total number of cases to 30,682.

Of the new cases, 467 are considered “fresh cases,” which refer to test results that were released within the last 3 days. There are 163 “late cases," or those whose results were released at least four days ago, the DOH said.

Of the fresh cases, 149 are from National Capital Region, 164 are from Region 7 and 153 were tagged as “Others," which could refer to cases in other regions or those with locations that are still unknown or for validation. There is also 1 Filipino repatriate among the fresh cases.

Of the late cases, 25 are from NCR, 93 are from Region 7 and 45 are tagged as “Others.”

While NCR still has the most number of COVID-19 patients, Region 7, Cebu City remains a hotspot because of the spike in the number of positive cases. DOH said its epidemiologists are already studying the COVID-19 clusters in the area.

The DOH also recorded 250 new recovered patients or a total of 8,143 new recoveries.

Meanwhile, there were also 8 new COVID-related deaths or 1,177 total fatalities. Of the new deaths, only 2 occurred in June.

There have been 8.9 million people who have been infected with COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, according to the Johns Hopkins University coronavirus dashboard. Of those, 4.4 million have already recovered while 468,000 have died.
