MANILA—A low-pressure area (LPA) brewing over the Pacific coast may enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Sunday, state weather bureau PAGASA said Saturday.

Weather specialist Meno Mendoza said the LPA was last spotted 1,220 kilometers east of Mindanao as of 2 a.m. Saturday.

If it will develop into a tropical depression, the weather disturbance will be named "Dodong," the country's fourth tropical cyclone in 2019 following Chedeng in March.

On Saturday, Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the trough of the LPA.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers.
