MANILA-- Former lawmaker Aniceto "John" Bertiz III has been appointed as deputy director-general of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Malacañang said Monday.

Bertiz, who previously represented the ACTS OFW party-list in Congress, will be tasked to provide repatriated Filipinos with "quality-assured and inclusive technical education and skills development," Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said.

"We hope that everyone would support [Deputy Director General] Bertiz as he begins his new assignment in this extraordinary time," Roque said.

Bertiz in 2018 drew flak on social media for his outburst after a much-publicized security row with airport personnel, and for saying that his "monthly period" got the best of him.
