MANILA- Kris Aquino will not run for senator next year.

The actress made the statement on social media Wednesday in response to his cousin, Sen. Bam Aquino's remarks that she'd likely win if she decides to enter politics.

In a Facebook post, Kris clarified that a foray into politics would mean violating several of her existing endorsement contracts, some of which she has signed on until 2020.

She explained that her existing engagements prevent her from seeking any elective posts in the upcoming elections.

"Totoo naman po- may takot ako. Takot akong sirain ang aking palabra de honor (Word of Honor) and gibain ang pakiramdam kong mga dapat kong ipagmalaki," Kris said.

"Marunong akong tumanaw ng utang na loob at may #loyalty ako sa mga nagbigay ng trabaho at tiwala sakin," she added.

(It is true that I have fears. I fear to ruin my word of honor and destroying the things that I feel I should be proud of. I know how to honor my debts of gratitude and I have loyalty to those who gave me work and have trust in me.)

The actress earlier sparked rumors of a possible career in politics after she publicly called out Communications Assistant Secretary Margaux "Mocha" Uson for a social media post that she felt had disrespected her late parents, slain former Sen. Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. and former President Corazon Aquino.
