MANILA—President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday ordered authorities to shut down religious corporation Kapa-Community Ministry International over allegations it is involved in an investment scam.

"Ito, it is a continuing crime. So arrest them and investigate it," Duterte said in a televised interview.

"Kayong mga CIDG, kayong pulis, the special investigating teams there, the NBI, that is pyramiding . . . That is why NBI, sirahan mo na sila (shut them down) at dalhin mo doon sa (courts) upon my orders."

The CIDG is the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

Duterte said he has warned the public several times to be cautious.

"When it is good to be true, it is fraud. Biro mo 'yung P100,000 mo would earn P30,000 a month? Ni bangko na 'yung Banko Sentral natin magbigay, 3 lang porsyento," he said.

"Eh ito, kayong mga Pilipino, ilang beses ko na kayo sinasabihan? What is being promised to you is something like heaven, walang tao dito, walang bangko, maski 'yung Bank of America can afford to pay you P30,000 every month for your P100,000."

The Securities Exchange Commission in March said the cease and desist order it issued against Kapa "remains effective and still valid," amid reports it has secured a temporary restraining order.

"Hence, the public is hereby warned to be cautious in dealing with the above-mentioned KAPA and its allied entities, particularly in investing their money with said entities," it said.
