NAGA CITY - Nagueños joined the Robredo family in celebrating Mass for the 60th birth anniversary of the late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo on Sunday.

Vice President Leni Robredo recalled that the former Naga mayor would usually get surprises from city hall employees during his birthday but he always wanted it simple when he goes home.

"Noong nasa city hall siya, 'yung employees ang nagsu-surprise sa kanya. Noong nasa DILG, ganoon din. Pero kami, parating preferred namin quiet celebration lang, dinner lang sa pamilya," she said.

Nearly 6 years after her late husband's untimely death, Robredo said the family still thinks about him.

"Siguro magiging sentro ng biruan sa family. Pero parang exciting din isipin na buhay pa siya at ano ang gagawin niya sa kanyang senior citizen ID," she said.

Among those who joined the Mass were Jesse's brother Butch and his mother-in-law Salvacion Gerona. They opened a room at the Museo ni Jesse Robredo featuring memorabilia of the late official.

Jesse Robredo died in a plane crash in August 2012.
