MANILA (UPDATE) - The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Quezon City has reached at 1,910, the city government said late Wednesday.

In its 11 p.m. bulletin, the local government said 1,727 of the COVID-19 cases have addresses in the city while 1,544 were validated by the QC Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit and District Health Offices.

Two more patients succumbed to the disease, according to the city government, bringing the death toll to 165.

Meanwhile, 18 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the total to 596.

The local government said the number of active COVID-19 cases in the city is now at 783.

No new cases of the disease were added to the top barangays of the city with COVID-19 patients, with Batasan Hills with 82 and Culiat still with 72.

Bahay Toro, with the third highest number of COVID-19 cases, now has 60.

District 4 has the most number of cases among the six districts in the city with 393.

There are 34 barangays in the city with extreme enhanced community quarantine areas.

"As of this date, the City has placed only 11 locations in 5 barangays under Special Concern Lockdown, consistent with local and national guidelines. These areas have been on SCL since May 13," the local government said in a statement Thursday.

"We are not adding as of now, any additional Special Concern Lockdown Areas," it added.

A 14-day "special concern" or total lockdown was placed on barangays Bahay Toro, Culiat, Sauyo, Batasan Hills, and Tatalon, due to the high number of COVID-19 cases in the areas.

Last Saturday, Metro Manila, Laguna, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Zambales and Angeles City shifted to a modified lockdown, wherein the government sought to restart an economy ravaged by the pandemic.

The cities of Cebu and Mandaue in the Visayas remain under strict lockdown while other parts of the country are now under general community quarantine.

The tally includes 842 people who succumbed to the illness while 2,932 have recovered.
