MANILA - The Philippine National Police (PNP) has named Senior Supt. Romeo Caramat as the new head of its counter-intelligence task force.
PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde made the announcement during a command conference in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City.
Albayalde said he has great trust in the former Bulacan provincial police director, who will also serve as the chief of staff of the PNP Intelligence Group.
It can be recalled that Caramat was Bulacan provincial police chief when 32 were killed overnight in simultaneous anti-drug operations in August last year.
Another sweep in the province last March meanwhile resulted in the death of 13 suspected drug dealers and the arrest of more than 100 people.
Senior Supt. Chito Bersaluna is set to replace Caramat as Bulacan police provincial director.
