The PhilSports Arena in Pasig City received its first positive COVID-19 case on Friday.

The venue, located inside the PhilSports Complex, was recently converted to a medical center to address the need for more facilities required for COVID-19 patients.

Police Lt. Col. Jay Carpio, chief of the PNP Health Service, said in a Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Facebook post that authorities expect 10 more incoming patients.

The 132-bed PhilSports facility is now operating with complete medical equipment and a team composed of PNP Medical Corps on regular duty.

Other facilities turned over for use by the PSC to the DOH and the DPWH are Rizal Coliseum and Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
