Three soldiers were wounded in an ambush in the boundary of Barangay Sabong and Campo Uno in Lamitan City on Thursday morning.
The Western Mindanao Command said the wounded soldiers were brought to a hospital in the city.
According to Col. Gerry Besana, WesMinCom spokesperson, the soldiers were on board their motorcycles when they were waylaid by armed men.
At gunpoint, they were told to alight from their motorcycles, and were blindfolded with tarpaulin materials, and then shot.
Quoting a report from the Joint Task Force Basilan, the soldiers were from 74th Infantry Battalion and were already on their way to their Patrol Base in Barangay Macalang Albarka, Basilan when the incident happened.
