Manila Mayor Isko Moreno earlier placed Sampaloc and the first district of Tondo under hard lockdown in an effort to contain the spread of the virus.

Malacañang on Tuesday said that Metro Manila, Laguna and Cebu City will shift to a modified lockdown until the end of the month while the rest of the country will have fewer restrictions as the enhanced community quarantine lapses on Friday.

To date, the Philippines has tallied 11,618 coronavirus infections, with 772 deaths while 2,251 have recovered.
