DAVAO CITY - President Rodrigo Duterte's 3 children are set to take key elective posts in Davao City after they swept their respective races in the local elections.

Incumbent Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is set to get a second term after getting 565,284 votes against her opponent Jun Marcellones’ 4,165, based on results from 97.01 percent or 1,105 of 1,139 clustered precincts.

Her brother, Sebastian "Baste" Duterte, is also poised to get the vice-mayoralty post after getting 543,317, based on the same number of election returns. He ran unopposed.

Meanwhile, Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, the city’s former vice-mayor, is expected to join Congress as Davao City’s 1st District Representative after getting 194,674 votes against his opponents Susan Uyanguren’s 5,070 and Rex Labis’ 2,107.

The Duterte siblings’ widely expected victory will further cement the family’s strong grip on Davao City politics, as their father is also expected to get a fresh mandate when his allies dominate the Senate race.

Leading the Senate race in Davao City is President Rodrigo Duterte’s long-time aide, Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go with 518,931 votes, followed by another trusted Duterte figure, former police chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa with 504,641 votes.

Candidates of the Duterte-Carpio-led Hugpong ng Pagbabago got all 12 spots in the city, shutting out perennial survey frontrunners Grace Poe and Lito Lapid.

It was only former broadcast journalist Jiggy Manicad who failed to break into the top 12 in the city’s Senate race.
