MANILA - Raissa Laurel has been reelected as city councilor in San Juan City.

Laurel placed third in the first district council race with 15,057 votes, based on partial and unofficial results from 100 percent of election returns from clustered precincts.

It was eight years ago when Laurel lost both her legs in the blast during the final day of the 2010 Bar exams in Manila.

She first tried her luck in politics when she ran for councilor in San Juan in 2016 under San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez' party.

Laurel ran under the same party this year, supporting Janella Ejercito Estrada.

Estrada lost to Francis Zamora by more than 11,000 votes.

Laurel, in a Facebook post, thanked her supporters and asked for unity.

"Una po sa lahat, ako po ay taos pusong nagpapasalamat sa inyong suporta. Patuloy po nating ipagdasal ang ating mahal na Lungsod na magkaisa na po ang lahat," she wrote in the caption.
