MANILA — The Department of Health on Wednesday reported 268 new COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, as well as 145 new recovered patients, the highest recorded in a single day.
Of the new cases that raised the countrywide tally to 11,618, more than half or 165 (61%) are from the National Capital Region, 58 or 22% are from Region 7 or Central Visayas, and 45 or 17% are from other regions.
The total recoveries in the country stands at 2,251.
The DOH also reported 21 new COVID-related deaths, bringing the total number of fatalities to 772.
Some 4.26 million cases of COVID-19 have been recorded worldwide, according to the Johns Hopkins University coronavirus dashboard. Of those, 1.49 million have recovered while more than 290,000 have died.
