MANILA (2nd UPDATE)—Mass communication students from the University of the Philippines Diliman on Friday held a protest to denounce the ouster of Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

The students said the high court majority's grant of Solicitor General Jose Calida's quo warranto petition to invalidate Sereno's 2012 appointment was a desperate action by the Duterte administration to consolidate power.
