MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday said Senator Richard Gordon might become the country’s next president.

“We have to give it to president Gordon. I have to get used to it. I’m sorry, Mr. President. It’s only about a few more years,” Duterte said in jest during the launch of Philippine Red Cross’ humanitarian vessel, M/V Amazing Grace.

Gordon is considered an ally of Duterte in the Senate. In 2010, Gordon ran for president but lost to Liberal Party's bet, then Senator Benigno Aquino III.
