MANILA- Three personnel assigned at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport were infected with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Manila International Airport Authority General Manager Ed Monreal said Thursday.

Those who tested positive for the respiratory disease worked as airport police, Monreal said.

"Tatlo po yan. 'Yan po ay base sa aming pagtatala," he said in a virtual press briefing.

One of those who were infected has already recovered from COVID-19, he added.

Monreal assured the public that the MIAA is implementing precautionary measures against COVID-19 in the country's ports.

"The protocols that we are implementing ay ayon po sa mga direktiba ng ating mga eksperto (is based on the directive of experts)," he said.

The Philippines on Wednesday breached the 10,000-mark in its tally of COVID-19 cases with 320 new cases recorded, bringing the total to 10,004. The figure includes 658 deaths and 1,506 recoveries.
