Ramon “Bong” Osorio, former head of ABS-CBN Corporate Communications

ABS-CBN mourns the passing of advertising and PR leader Ramon “Bong” Osorio, who joined our Creator this morning, 30 April 2020.

Bong, 66, served as corporate communications head of ABS-CBN from 2007 until he reached the company’s mandatory retirement in 2013. ABS-CBN deeply values his great contributions to the company and to the communication profession that he so dearly served.

He was tireless in championing communication, having served in industry groups such as the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkasters sa Pilipinas (KBP) Standards Authority, the Advertising Foundation of the Philippines (AFP), the Manila Overseas Press Club, and the National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT).

A well-respected industry leader, Bong was past president of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines and the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP), and was a member of the International PR Association (IPRA) Philippines. He was also IABC Regional Director for Asia-Pacific and was named Regional Council Member for Asia Pacific by the Global Alliance of Public Relations and Communications Management (GAPRCM) in 2019.

Apart from his many achievements as an advertising and PR practitioner, Bong takes pride in mentoring generations of media, advertising, and marketing professionals as an academician in the University of Santo Tomas, with many of his former students already leading successful careers, including in ABS-CBN. As an educator, he was honored for Outstanding Achievement in Marketing Education at the 2002 Philippine Marketing Association’s Agora Awards and was also recognized with The Tomasian Alumni (TOTAL) award in the field of media and communication in 2003.

He was an inspiring leader, a great teacher, an award-winning columnist, and a beloved Kapamilya.

As we celebrate Bong’s life and legacy, our thoughts are with his family, who have lost such a brilliant and caring loved one.

Rest in peace, our forever Kapamilya.
