MANILA - For the first time in nearly 2 decades, a graduate of the Polytechnic University of the Philipines-College of Law joined the top 10 placers of the Bar exams, its dean said Wednesday.

Jun Dexter Rojas of the PUP law college placed 9th in the 2019 Bar exams with a score of 87.5765 percent, according to the Supreme Court.

Rojas is the first PUP graduate to enter the top 10 since the College of Law was established in 2001, said its dean, Atty Gemy Lito Festin.

The college in 2016 logged a 100-percent passing rate in the Bar exams. PUP is still verifying how many of its graduates passed last year's Bar, he said.

Festin also described Rojas as a "hardworking" family man with a "mature" outlook on learning.

"Kahit walang pasok pumupunta iyan sa eskuwelahan, naghahanap ng room o space para makapagbasa. Walang sinasayang na oras," he told DZMM.

(Even when there are no classes, he goes to the school to find a room or space to read. He doesn't waste time.)

"Lahat ng mga pinaghirapan mo, eto nagbunga," the dean also said, addressing Rojas.
