MANILA – Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Wednesday praised ABS-CBN for its relief efforts to those affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

“Napakalaking tulong ang hatid ng ABS-CBN para tayo'y makapaghatid ng tulong sa ating mga kababayan," Belmonte said in a statement.

Belmonte said the media conglomerate donated boxes of food and other essential products to the city government, which were distributed to different households in Quezon City.

“Hindi namin magagawa ito kung wala ang tulong ng ABS-CBN na palaging naririyan at maaasahan sa oras ng pangangailangan,” she said.

ABS-CBN, Belmonte said, helped alleviate the burden of addressing the city’s needs. Quezon City is the most populous and largest city in Metro Manila.

In her statement, the city mayor also expressed full support to ABS-CBN’s bid for a fresh 25-year franchise.

The network and city government have partnered for the city’s K-12 program by building the Eugenio Lopez School of Media Arts and have worked together for the welfare of abandoned and neglected children, and those who are victims of abuse through Bantay Bata 163, she said.

“Gaya ng ABS-CBN, mahalaga sa Quezon City ang pamilya kaya tuluy-tuloy ang aming ugnayan at pagtutulungan para sa mga makabuluhang proyekto para sa sambayanan,” Belmonte said.
