MANILA - Two Catholic priests were among the more than 2,000 examinees who passed the 2019 Bar exams.

Rev. Fr. Victor De Guzman of the Diocese of San Fernando de La Union and Salesian Rev. Fr. Abundio Bacatan made it to the list of passers released by the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

In a Facebook post, the Diocese of San Fernando de La Union congratulated De Guzman, who is currently the parish priest at the San Nicolas de Tolentino Parish Church in Balaoan, La Union.

Meanwhile, Bacatan, according to a report from CBCP News, is currently assigned at Don Bosco Dumangas in Iloilo.

He also served as administrator at the Don Bosco Technical College in Labangon, Cebu City. The priest is also said to be the first Filipino Salesian civil lawyer.

Unlike in the previous years when the exam results were met with a crowd at the Supreme Court grounds in Manila, the list was posted only on the high court’s official website due to the enhanced community quarantine imposed in Metro Manila and other key areas in the country to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Mae Diane Azores of the University of Santo Tomas in Legaspi topped the exams.

The passing grade this year was pegged at 74 percent.
