BACOLOD, Negros Occidental -- It will take a "miracle" for the opposition senatorial slate to succeed in the May 13 elections, Sen. Bam Aquino said Monday, as the campaign entered the homestretch.

Only 2 Senate hopefuls of the Otso Diretso line-up -- Aquino and former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas -- have a statistical chance of winning, according to a March 23 to 27 Pulse Asia Inc poll

(This May, we are looking for a miracle and in my heart, my belief is it's still there.)

Supporters should actively campaign for the slate instead of just promising their vote, said Aquino and opposition bets Erin Tañada, Samira Gutoc, Bam Aquino and Chel Diokno, who were accompanied by Vice President Leni Robredo here.

(Perhaps we can make our own voting guide that we can distribute to our relatives, friends, co-workers, and neighbors who are not yet familiar with the 8 candidates.)

(In the last 14 days before the elections, we need to go out of our organizations and visit sitios.)

Gutoc, a rights advocate from Mindanao, was also upbeat as she danced to her own jingle. She asked the crowd to sing Queen’s "We Are The Champions" and joked about her waistline.

Diokno said he has filed a letter reiterating his call for the Commission on Elections to look into the reported inspection being done by policemen on vote counting machines in Baguio.
