MANILA - President Duterte has appointed Court of Appeals Associate Justice Socorro Inting as the newest member of the Commission on Elections, a source told ABS-CBN News.

Hailing from Davao City, Inting obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree, cum laude, from the Ateneo de Davao University in 1980.

She served as Presiding Judge of Branch 4, Regional Trial Court, Manila, for more than 9 years and Presiding Judge of the Metropolitan Trial Court, Branch 63, Makati, for almost 3 years.

She also served as a prosecutor for 6 years and a public attorney for 7 years. She was appointed to the Court of Appeals in 2009.

Duterte earlier named poll commissioner Sheriff Abas as the new head of the poll body, replacing Comelec chairman Andres Bautista who resigned last year.
