DOH: More than 750 doctors, health workers in PH are COVID-19 positive

MANILA—The Department of Health on Friday announced that there are now more than 750 health care workers in the Philippines who have contracted COVID-19.
“Meron na tayong naitalang 766 na health care workers na confirmed cases ng COVID-19,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said during a televised briefing.
(We have now recorded 766 health-care workers who are confirmed cases of COVID-19.)
Of that number, 339 are doctors and 242 are nurses. The DOH did not mention the exact professions of the remaining 185 health care workers.

Vergeire said her department has recorded 22 health-care workers who have died because of the disease.
There are now a total of 5,878 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines. Since the pandemic started, 487 of these patients have recovered and 387 have died.
