Lawyer and Marcos loyalist Oliver Lozano has passed away, one month after suffering from a heart attack, his family said Friday. He was 78.

Lozano was able to recover from the heart attack but was hospitalized Wednesday. He expired on Thursday, his wife, Norma said.

One of Lozano's last acts before he died was to propose a settlement between the family of late president Ferdinand Marcos and the government of President Rodrigo Duterte. No agreement has been reached on this, according to a Malacañang official.

He also earlier filed an impeachment complaint against Vice President Leni Robredo for criticizing the administration's war on drugs in a video sent to a side event of the United Nations.

Robredo defeated the late strongman's only son and namesake, former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., in a tightly contested vice-presidential race. The Presidential Electoral Tribunal is investigating Marcos' electoral protest.

Lozano's wake is held at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Quezon City before his burial on Sunday. - report from Jekki Pascual, ABS-CBN News
