DAVAO CITY - President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday said his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, accompanied him during his trip to China and Hong Kong because she was also invited by the Chinese government to visit the country.

"She was invited. She went there per invitation. I don't know about the trips coming along my way, during my term, whether or not they would allow, maybe invite my family, my friends," he told reporters.

The Davao City mayor was beside her father during the latter's official visit to China and Hong Kong this week.

She also witnessed the signing of investment pledges between the Philippine government and Chinese businessmen, and attended the bilateral meeting of President Duterte and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Duterte also met with the Filipino community in Hong Kong before returning to Davao.
