BATANGAS - Officials of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) warned mountaineers from trekking the Mount Maculot in Cuenca, Batangas following a landslide in the area after the Saturday earthquake.

PDRRMC Batangas head Lito Castro said that the local government of Cuenca has released an advisory to all mountaineers to refrain from climbing the mountain this coming Holy Week.

Castro, likewise, said he has yet to wait for the advisory of Mabini Mayor Bitrics Luistro for scuba divers who are planning to spend the Holy Week break in the dive capital of Batangas

"As of now ipinauubaya na namin kay Mayor Luistro ang pagmo-monitor sa mga dadagsang divers sa kanilang lugar," Castro said

A veteran divemaster has advised his fellow divers to postpone their scheduled dives until the sea is clear from the danger brought about by the earthquake.

"May narininig nga kaming parang kulog sa ilalim ng dagat noong nasa ilalim kami at lumindol ng sunod sunod," a scuba diver who requested anonimity said.

PDRRMC said several roads in Agoncillo, Bauan and Batangas City were temporarily closed because of the landslides but were cleared by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Sunday.

The Basilica of the Immaculate Concepcion Parish, also in Batangas City, suffered major damage.

In Mabini, at least 500 houses incurred major to minor damage according to PDRRMC
