Residents of Sitio San Roque in Quezon City are arrested by police after refusing to disperse and go home when they gathered along the EDSA service road in the area during the Luzon lockdown on April 1, 2020. The residents say they only gathered to ask for help and food as they have yet to receive the promised aid from the local government. Zhander Cayabyab, ABS-CBN News

MANILA - The 21 residents of Quezon City who were arrested last week for breaking the rules of the Luzon lockdown posted bail Monday through the help of crowdfunding.

The residents of Sitio San Roque spent the weekend in jail after they gathered along EDSA on April 1 to protest the lack of food assistance from the local government.

The "San Roque 21" were able to post bail at the Metropolitan Trial Court of Quezon City, according to a statement from human rights group Karapatan.

The protesters face multiple charges, with their bail set at P15,000 each, or a total of P315,000.
